After a long break, Australia rejoined the FIVB’s World League tournament in 2014 after its expansion into 3 Groups. Australia competed in Group 2 against Canada, Finland and Belgium, winning the Group 2 Finals against France in front of a home crowd in Sydney. The victory advance Australia into the group 1 finals in Italy, and cemented their spot in Group 1 for the following year.
Australia recorded a 0-9 result in the 2017 season, and were demoted back down to Group 2 for 2018. Hosting the Group 2 finals on the Gold Coast, Australia came third and 15th overall.
In 2019 the FIVB embarked on a rebranding of World League and created the Volleyball Nations League, which is now played instead of World League.
